Cowgirl Baked Beans

These smoky, spiced, sweet and hearty beans are straightforward to whip up and have the most effective bold taste and texture.

  • 1 Tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1/2 tsp chipotle powder or smoky paprika
  • 1 tsp additional virgin olive oil
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt (or to style)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the canned beans nicely, beneath cool water.
  2. Add all of the components – besides the beans – to a small sauce pot. Whisk or stir briskly to mix.
  3. Fold in the beans and switch the warmth to medium. Cook for 3-5 minutes, till the beans thicken and heat. Cover with a lid and scale back heat to low. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes. Keep lid on the pot till able to serve to maintain the beans tender.
